The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.
– Genesis 12: 1
Where are you being asked to go? What inner nudges do you feel?
More importantly, what are you doing about these inner nudges?
We really have three choices: do nothing, pause to consider it before taking action within a short period, take immediate action.
All decisions that we make have both short and long term consequences that impact not only our lives but the lives of those closest to us.
So, what do we do when we feel this inner nudge?
Here is what I do.
1.
Release it to God.
2.
Talk to my spouse.
3.
If I feel an inner peace, take action. If I do not feel an inner peace, do not take action. However, I need to make certain I do not confuse fear with a lack of inner peace.
4.
If I feel fear, release it to God one more time to make certain the inner peace is greater than my fear. I remind myself that God is love. I remind myself that God has not given me a spirit of fear.
5.
Realize that just because this time might mean no, it does not mean God wants it to be no in the future.
What do you think?
The land that I will show you is one of the greatest biblical challenges.Abram didn’t consult with his wife, but you are wise to do so.
