Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the LORD will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
Do you believe The Lord will provide?
When things seem to be going our way it is easy to answer yes. When things do not seem to be going the way we want them to, the answer seems to be no or we don’t know.
Perhaps we need to rethink what our definition of provide really is. Are we sure we are not getting it confused with what we want?
What do we want?
More money
More friends
Better job
Higher salary
Bigger house
New car
A couple more vacation days
God provides but it may not be what we want. Nevertheless, He has and is providing.
We need to spend more time appreciating what God has provided and less time focusing on what we want. Be grateful for what we have now. Enjoy it. Appreciate it.
Father, thank you for all You provide. I am sorry that I am more concerned with what I want instead of being grateful for what I have. Help me to trust that what I have is exactly what I should want. Amen.
