Centering prayer is about teaching one to wait. It is about waiting and consenting to God’s action in our lives. It is about letting go of our thoughts, emotions, preconceived notions and just being.
I have been practicing Centering Prayer for a few months now. However, I was really only dabbling in it. Over the last week I decided to plunge in. For the last week I have centered twice each day, twenty minutes each time. What have I learned so far?
Centering is teaching me to be:
Present
Patient
Accepting
Forgiving of others and myself
Compassionate
Non – Judging
Open
Centering Prayer is helping me remember that I am loved by something greater than I – the Divine. Centering Prayer is Divine Therapy.
How do you experience prayer?
