We need practices such as centering prayer, journaling, lectio divina, prayer labyrinth, the Jesus prayer.
They allow us to slow down and hear the voice of God.
This voice often comes as an inner nudge to move in a new direction, to help someone, to assure us that all will be okay.
If we do not slow down, we miss these vital inner nudges from God.
We move in the wrong direction.
We miss an opportunity to help someone in need.
We panic and do not believe that all will be okay.
My mainstay is centering prayer complimented with journaling.
Centering prayer nourishes my soul.
It slows me down so God can pray in me the actions I need to take.
Journaling allows me to reflect upon the actions God has prayed in me.
I need both practices!
I sit with God and then get up and partner with God as I move through each day.
If you read Sitting with God, and it nudged you to try centering prayer, but you need some help getting started, feel free to reach out to me.
If you read Sitting with God, and it nudged you to get back to your practice that you miss, but you need some help getting started again, feel free to reach out to me.
I am currently reading Come Closer: The Practice of Christian Meditation by Teresa Yerkes.
