The psalmist wrote, “This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)
This is a great way to approach each day.
Do you look forward to today?
Are you excited for what the day will bring?
God has given us the gift of a new day.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
What will you do today?
As I start my day I like to visualize what I will do and accomplish.
I wrap this into my centering prayer practice.
I close my eyes and imagine the things I will do and accomplish.
I move beyond imagination.
I strongly believe I will accomplish them.
I see and feel them as if they are done.
I thank God for his partnership with me on their completion.
I then let them go and begin my centering prayer sit.
Weekly Tip: The Power of a Morning Sit. I cannot imagine a better start to my day than a silent sit. When I center, I feel like I walk into God’s house. I drop off all of my excess baggage at the front door. I sit in God’s living room. God has a special chair for me. I am invited to sit and rest. It is here that I am loved, healed. It is my special time with God. No words need to be said. We are two friends who need each other. I need God’s love and healing during centering prayer; God needs my action in the world during my non-centering times of the day. My centering prayer sit prepares me for the day and the actions I will take. I need this sit! I encourage you to start your day with a silent sit too. Let me know if you need some help.
