What Do I Want to Do in 2026?
Who Do I Want to Be in 2026?
As I sit with this question, one desire keeps rising to the surface:
I want to sit with God and then act on the dreams and goals God has placed within me.
I want to practice persistent prayer.
Not just asking, but listening.
Not just waiting, but responding.
I want to partner with God on my dreams and goals.
I want big dreams, not small ones.
Small dreams I can handle on my own.
Big dreams require God as my partner.
I want to be more present in the ordinary moments of life.
When I watch a movie or a football game, I want to really watch it.
That means putting away my phone and iPad.
Letting myself laugh, cry, feel frustrated, and be moved.
I want to experience life more fully.
I want to slow down.
To enjoy life instead of rushing through it.
I want to create meaningful experiences with family and friends.
To deepen existing relationships and remain open to new ones.
I want to keep reminding my children, yes, my children, even at 17, 24, and 28, that there is greatness within them.
I never stop being their dad.
When I’m with my wife, my daughter, my son, a friend, or someone in my community, I want to be fully present.
I want them to know they matter.
That they are important to me.
When I take a walk, I want to actually be there,
not lost in my head, not rushing to the next thing.
I want to be myself.
And I don’t want to be afraid of being myself.
I want to show up each day as my God-given self.
I also want to help those who don’t know where their next meal will come from.
Recently, after a show in Charlotte, my wife, son, and I bought food gift cards and handed them out to people on the streets who clearly needed them.
They didn’t know where their next meal would come from.
We wanted them to know someone cared.
That they mattered.
As we approached them and handed them the gift cards, their faces lit up, almost instantly.
We want to do this more often.
For now, that’s what’s on my heart.
What about you?
What do you want to do in 2026?
Who do you want to be in 2026?
And if you find yourself longing for more clarity, courage, or companionship as you discern what’s next, this is the kind of work I do in my one-on-one coaching. I help people slow down, listen deeply, and take faithful, grounded action.
If that resonates, you’re welcome to schedule a free session where we’ll gently explore what’s stirring in you and what next steps might look like, including the possibility of ongoing one-on-one coaching, to help you uncover what you want to do and be in 2026.
