Be where your feet are.
I heard Jesse Itzler say this on the Ed Mylett Show.
(Click here to listen to this fun conversation.)
What does this mean?
It means be fully present where your feet are.
As I type this, I am to focus on what I type.
That is it!
I am not to let my mind wander and think about what I will do after I finish typing this.
I work from home.
I have a remote job.
I have a to do list.
It means focus on each task one at a time.
It means when my wife speaks to me, give her all of my love, attention and focus.
When I take a walk with my daughter, listen to her.
When I drive my son to high school, give him my undivided attention.
When I take a walk, pay attention to my surroundings, sky, trees, dogs barking, other people walking, gentle breeze, sounds in the air.
Enjoy this moment.
Be fully present to it.
Centering prayer is vital to this process.
During centering prayer, we need to be where our feet are!
We bring all of us to our sits: mind, body, and soul.
We say, “Here I am God. I open to Your presence and actions within.”
We have one thing to do during this time.
Be with God.
Return our focus to God when we engage our thoughts.
That is the purpose of our sacred word.
The being we do with God helps us to be with life and all of its amazing moments.
