How do you get to union with God?

“How do you “get to” union with God? Practice, practice, practice—continuously, skillfully, and in deepening appreciation for the subtle mystery of divine love.”

I read this in The Path of Centering Prayer by David Frenette.

(Click here to check out this book.)

What does this mean?

It means I show up everyday for my centering prayer sit.

I show up as much as three times per day.

Sometimes I need this third sit!

I show up because I love and trust God.

When I show up, I remove the obstacles between God and I.

God and I become more and more in union.

What happens when I am in union with God?

My actions outside of my silent sit are motivated by the Spirit within.

What actions?

The actions I express as a husband, father, son, brother, friend, employee, community member.

And so I will keep showing up for this special and sacred time.

Weekly Tip: The Power of Your Thoughts. What thoughts do you feed yourself? Be careful what you say to yourself. They become the truth in your outer world. Try saying the following sentences to yourself: “I am resilient. I am powerful. I can handle this. All I need to do is take action and the how will be revealed. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Within you are the infinite resources and the infinite wisdom of God. Change your thoughts; change your life. Let me know how it goes.

(I have found both of these books to be very helpful on this Weekly Tip topic: Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life by Bob Proctor and The Success Principles by Jack Canfield.)

I recently listened to the podcast episode titled: We are Gods over at the Second Cup with Keith Giles. Keith discusses deification, a topic taught by Jesus, Paul, the early Church Fathers and others. What does this mean for us today? Click here to enjoy.
