I love this short meditation from the Henri Nouwen society:
“Try to keep a little hermitage in the center of your being, where you can continue your prayer even during a busy day.
A simple prayer such as “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me a sinner” can give you much consolation and strength when you allow it to remain present in your inner hermitage.
It is the way to let the Spirit of God pray in you.”
I start my day with a centering prayer sit.
This is my silent sit with God.
It gets me ready for the day and what I will face.
I need this sit.
I love this sit.
It is my special time with God.
I let God pray in me what I need for today.
I think of it as I sit with God and then partner with God as I move through the day.
In the middle of the day I take a second sit.
Like my first sit, I need this second sit.
This sit helps me finish the day as strongly as I started the day.
It reconnects me to God and reminds me God will continue to partner with me as I complete my day.
In addition to both sits, Henri Nouwen reminds us we need to continue this prayer during our busy day.
How do I do this?
I pause throughout the day and interiorly recite, “I love You. I trust You.” “I surrender to You.”
This keeps the flow of the Spirit praying in me.
How do you keep the flow of the Spirit praying in you?
I help pastors, priests and other clergy create a long term sustainable centering prayer practice. This is vital! The important work you do can be physically and mentally draining. The time you take to sit with God will reset, refresh and reinvigorate your soul. You need this time so you do not burn out. Our sessions are a safe place for you to release burdens that you are not meant to carry alone. Reach out to explore working with me.
Setup a 30-minute exploration call with me. How do you want to transform your life? What is your purpose? What impossible goal do you want to accomplish? What limiting beliefs do you want to break through? Imagine we speak again in one year, what amazing results will you share with me? Reach out here.
Weekly Tip: The Power of Exercise: Exercise is great for both your physical and mental health. You will gain strength and endurance as you exercise. Movement will lift your mood. I love going to the gym. I do both strength training with machines and aerobic via the ecliptical and treadmill. After my workouts I feel stronger, energized and mentally lifted. I encourage you to walk, jog, join a gym, play a sport. Pick an activity and do it a few times a week. You will not regret it.
