Do one thing at a time.
Centering prayer helps us to do one thing at a time.
During centering prayer we open to the presence and actions of God within.
When we engage our thoughts, we use our sacred word to ever so gently return to God.
We do one thing during our silent sit.
We return to God.
Over and over again.
That is it!
Outside of centering prayer we take this surrender to the present moment gesture with us.
We do what the present moment requires.
I edit my second book one day at a time.
I focus on the edit process and nothing else during this time.
I have lost 6 pounds.
I want to lose another 10 pounds.
I focus on what I will eat and how I will exercise, one day at a time.
I exercise in the gym one day at a time.
I walk one day at a time.
Do not try to multitask.
Focus on one thing at a time.
I work remotely and service 401 k accounts.
I have a to do list.
I do each item, one at a time.
What is most important?
Do it and then move on to the next most important task.
When I watch tv with my wife I focus on enjoying the show and listening and speaking with my wife.
We enjoy our time together.
(And our French press coffee.)
When I drive my son to school I focus on listening to him and asking him questions.
It is our special time.
When I walk with my daughter, I focus on listening to her.
This is our time to be together.
Focus on things, one thing at time!
Let me know how it goes.

Join us for an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your true self. Through the dual lens of Contemplation and Inner Light, we will explore how use the Enneagram map to move beyond mere typology and embrace it instead as a profound path to inner wholeness and light – not only for yourself but for our world.
Join 30+ leading contemplative wisdom teachers from diverse spiritual traditions as they guide us through practices and teachings that explore questions like:
-How do you keep your heart open in the midst of so much suffering?
-How do we respond to the feeling of God’s absence in prayer?—What are the spiritual gifts of aging?
-What can our bodies teach us about our inner journey?
-Who are some of the (perhaps forgotten) mystics who can hold our hands through liminal times?
