I need to do a better job of being present and enjoying the present moment.
What can I do?
Put my iPhone and iPad in another room.
Enjoy the movie, tv show, football game.
Soak in what I hear.
Enjoy my surroundings.
Pet the dog.
Look at the lights and ornaments on the Christmas tree.
Really listen to my wife, son, coworker, friend, cashier at the supermarket.
Make them feel special.
Slowly drink, taste and enjoy each sip of my French pressed coffee.
Life is now.
Life is in front of me and all around me.
I have five senses: smell, sight, sound, touch and taste.
Do I use them all in this moment to enjoy and relish it?
Centering prayer teaches us to let go of our engaged thoughts and open to God and life in the present moment.
I need to let go of my engaged thoughts, this includes my iPhone and iPad and open to the present moment and what it offers.
