The Power of Affirmations—and the Freedom to Let Go
I’m a big believer in the power of affirmations.
Some of my favorites begin with:
- I am committed to…
- I am so happy and grateful now that…
I often read them before my Centering Prayer sits. Then I release them to God. I let them brew with Him—because, honestly, God might have something even better in mind.
Over time, I’ve learned to listen to my spirit. If I lose peace about an affirmation—if it no longer energizes me or begins to feel forced or harmful—I tweak it. Or I let it go entirely.
Affirmations are powerful tools, but they’re not rigid scripts. They’re meant to inspire, not imprison.
I still believe strongly in the affirmations I speak. I act on them. I move through my day with intention. But I also stay open. If something doesn’t happen the way I hoped, I try to remember:
- Maybe this is just a steppingstone—something that needs to unfold first.
- Or maybe something better is on its way—something I couldn’t have imagined.
I’ve learned to affirm, to act, and then—to detach.
To trust.
To watch.
To stay open and excited for what actually does materialize.
That’s where the real magic happens.
I’d love to hear how you work with affirmations. Do you have a favorite? How do you balance belief and surrender?
Feel free to let me know!
