Simple Steps to Focus Your Day

Let me share my visualization process with you—it’s simple and powerful.

I like to practice visualization at two key moments during the day:

1. Before Falling Asleep

As I drift off to sleep, I quietly say to myself, “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” followed by what I hope to accomplish tomorrow.

I borrowed this phrase from the book Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

Here are a few examples of my nightly statements:

  • Wouldn’t it be nice if I edited my second book tomorrow.
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if I checked off three to five tasks from my work to-do list.
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if I received an unexpected email with an amazing opportunity.
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if I went to the gym.
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if I took a walk with my wife.
  • Wouldn’t it be nice if I helped and served someone today.

These statements help me focus on what I want to achieve.

2. In the Morning Before Starting My Day

I repeat these same statements as part of my morning routine, incorporating them into my centering prayer practice.

With my eyes closed, I interiorly recite these intentions before transitioning into silent prayer. I let them “brew” with God, trusting that together, we’ll partner to bring them to life throughout the day.

Why Not Try It?

I encourage you to give this process a try. Visualize your goals and let them align with God’s presence in your life.

Let me know how it works for you—I’d love to hear about your experience!
