“I Gotcha.”

“I gotcha.”

This is what the waiter kept saying at a restaurant in Baltimore.

When we drive from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, we like to stay at a hotel in the Inner Harbor. This one allows dogs, so Nala and Sadie come with us.

They’re thrilled.
They love being with us, and we miss them when they’re not.

Nala is small and sits comfortably on the passenger-side floor.
Sadie is much bigger, so she rides in a canvas crate where she can rest peacefully during the trip.

Around the corner from the hotel, we found a small breakfast spot we really enjoy. The food is great, and the service is even better.

That’s where the “I gotcha” comes in.

The waiter took our order.
We asked a few questions.
Each time, he responded confidently:

“I gotcha.”

We needed more coffee.
I raised my hand and asked.

You can probably guess what he said.

“I gotcha.”

And it struck me.

I think God says the same thing to us.

When we pray…
“I gotcha.”

When we ask for help or guidance…
“I gotcha.”

When we don’t know the way forward…
“I gotcha.”

God has us.

It’s we who forget this.

God is always with us.
Always present.
Always our partner as we move through the day.

Now, like that waiter, I find myself hearing it more often:

“I gotcha.”

Have you ever sensed God saying, “I gotcha,” in your own life?
