I must continue to connect to God in nature and the outside world.
My wife and I do this when we sit outside at night in our screened in deck.
Most of our land is in the backyard.
We have a flat stretch, followed by a small hill and another flat stretch into a wooded area.
I love the balance of flat land and wooded area.
There is an indescribable calmness and beauty to it.
I cannot put it into words.
It is best not to put it into words.
It is like contemplative prayer.
I just bask in its peace and beauty.
Once I put words to it, I am no longer in union with it.
It is here my wife and I sip our coffee, discuss our day, watch our favorite streaming show and at the same time soak in night sounds and gentle wind that caresses our bodies.
I love to sit outside on our deck.
I know God is both inside and outside but for some reason I feel closer to God and closer to life.
It excites me.
It relaxes me.
It brings me an inner peace and calm.
The letting go I do during centering prayer has given me a greater appreciation for the outdoors.
I have learned to just be present to it and let its energy fill me with its beauty and power.
I help pastors, priests and other clergy create a long term sustainable centering prayer practice. This is vital! The important work you do can be physically and mentally draining. The time you take to sit with God will reset, refresh and reinvigorate your soul. You need this time so you do not burn out. Our sessions are a safe place for you to release burdens that you are not meant to carry alone. Reach out to explore working with me.
Setup a 30-minute exploration call with me. How do you want to transform your life? What is your purpose? What impossible goal do you want to accomplish? What limiting beliefs do you want to break through? Imagine we speak again in one year, what amazing results will you share with me? Reach out here.
Weekly Tip: The Power of Surrender. I am reminded that during centering prayer I surrender. It does not mean I give up on life. I don’t throw my arms up in the air and say I quit. I let go and open to the Great Mystery! I surrender to my way of thinking and doing. I let my small mind merge with the Larger Mind. I become aware of my oneness with God. I connect to my true self: the person God wants me to become. I let the Spirit infuse and energize my daily actions. I trust God. I partner with God as I move through the day. I take action on my true self. Even if my true self scares the heck out of me and is way outside of my comfort zone, I move forward in trust. I begin to do, accomplish, and experience things I never before thought possible. I help and better serve others. It is when I surrender that I learn how to live!
